    V - Code Licensing Test Prep 2017
    The Toledo Electrical JATC is offering a new course that will help you get you to the next level.  

    Please follow these steps and use the helpful information along the way.

    ***Attention Journey level Residential Wireman***
    “It was agreed that out of the second-year total package increase of $1.15 that $0.90 would be available for allocation and $0.25 would be placed as a premium on the wage rate for Journeymen with a Michigan Journeyman License.”

    Description of the course:  V-Code Licensing Test Prep 2017

    This course is a self-paced online course that will help you develop your National Electrical Code skills with the goal of preparing you to take the MI State Electrical exam. You can take this course at home or wherever you want on your mobile device. We do offer open tutoring on Thursday nights (6 to 10pm) if you would like to use the JATC computers and have a great tutor to help you navigate the code and math questions. You will also be provided a NEC 2017 and Codeology book. Overall, the course work should take about sixteen hours to complete, but please take your time, the grant is a fixed amount of $221.86. Grant and course completion certificate would be delivered to the participant by mail. Certificate would also be recorded into your TEJATC student account.

    We have two online partners we work with to bring you this online course thru their Learning Management Systems, they are Blended Learning and Northwest State Community College (NWSCC). We will be emailing you details and videos on how to log on to these online systems.

    Blended Learning is the online system for delivering this is a self-paced method of the course delivery, called Codeology. All lessons must be completed by the participant. There is a total of thirteen lessons and quizzes. Since you enrolled for the course, the JATC will soon be sending you an email with the details and video of logging into Blended Learning to start your course. 

    NWSCC is the online system for delivering this is a self-paced method of quiz delivery. There is a total of seven quizzes and a bonus sample quiz relevant to the MI State Electrical exam. Since you enrolled for the course, the JATC will soon be sending you an email with the details and video of logging into NWSCC to start your course. 

    About the NWSCC quizzes: There are seven quizzes you must take that are not long, only five to ten questions each. All quizzes would be required to be passed with a 70% or better and could be taken at any time If you received a test score above 70%. No further action is required with this test. Move onto the next quiz. If you did not receive above a 70%, you may take the test up to three times. After 3 test scores under 70%, call the JATC for a remediation plan (419-666-8088).

    BONUS: The sample quiz relevant to the MI State Electrical exam are available for you to take as many times as you want. Each time you take it this quiz it will randomly select questions and provide you an opportunity to develop your National Electrical Code skills.

    Communications methods from NWSCC once registered:

    • If required thru US mail you will receive notification of student ID number, NWS email, and password. This will take a week or more once registered for course.    
    • Email- using NWSCC generated email for notification password reset. This email is usually - First initial and last name @ northwesstate.edu.
    • Phone Help (419-267-1461) is available M-F 8am to 6pm to receive your ID number, NWS email, and password resets. You will need to provide them some personal information. 

    Course Completion: The JATC will be reviewing the test completions weekly and if all the Blended Learning Codeology coursework and NWSCC quizzes are completed you will receive a Code Licensing Test Prep 2017 Course Completion Certificate. This certificate will be US mailed to you and stored on file at the JATC.

    Grant Amount is $221.86. The course was marked as a 16 hour course $390. Minus the Codeology book $49.68, ETA LMS Cost $30.46, National Electrical Code 2017 $78.00. ($390.00 – $168.14 = $221.86)

    Northwest State Community College (NSCC) Help

    HELP Northwest State Community College (NSCC)

    NWSCC will communicate with you thru US mail, your NWSCC email, and you can call them. If required, thru US mail you will receive notification of student ID number, NWS email, and password. This US mail will take a week or more once registered for course. Email using your NWSCC generated email for notification password reset. This email is usually - First initial and last name @ northwesstate.edu. Call NWSCC Help (419-267-1461) is available M-H 8am to 6pm & Friday 8am to 4pm to receive your ID number, NWS email, and password resets. You will need to provide them some personal information. 

    Blended Learning (LMS) Sign-in Help

    Please follow these steps

    1. From your web browser, go to www.tejatc.org

    1. Under the Continuing Education tab on the website you will find a drop down called Residential This is the best way to access the Blended Learning (LMS) that you will need to access throughout your selected course.



    1. Click on the Blended Learning (LMS) Sign-in tab and you will be directed to the following site http://www.blendedlearning.njatc.org
    2. Once there, it should look like this.


    1. Click on register.

    1. This screen should appear.

    1. Select from the drop-down menu, OH2250, Toledo Electrical JATC
    2. Enter Access request password: IBEW-NECA
    3. Click I am not a Robot and if prompted, click on the appropriate pictures.
    4. Begin filling in your personal information. Remember to use your full legal name (NO NICK NAMES) and a capital letter for the beginning of each name, (first and Last), Example: (Jonathan Easton). You can leave the filter group blank.

    Note: Filter Groups correspond to the program or course that you are signed up with.

    1. When finished click submit.

    You will be sent an email after your information has been submitted checked and verified. This may take a few days, so don’t worry if you don’t receive an immediate response.

    NSCC Quiz Sign-in Help

    As part of your course, you will be taking quizzes as students through NSCC.

    1. Log into - Northwest State Community College OR Navigate to Toledo Electrical JATC website>Continuing Education>Residential >V-Code Licensing Prep>Northwest State Community College (NSCC) quizzes (then log into NSCC)
    2. Navigate to the upper right corner to the SAKIA link then click on link

    1. You will be prompted for a Username, which is your “n” number (lower case n)
      1. For your convenience here is your information for signing into NWSCC.

    Blended Learning system Codeology Course Help

    As part of your course you will be taking Codeology through Blending Learning.

    1. Navigate to Toledo Electrical JATC website>Continuing Education>Residential > V-Code Licensing Prep> Blended Learning system Codeology Course

    You will be prompted for a Username and Password. These items are what you created when you registered throught this website. Note: the reset your password option. (Your email is your user name, and your password is whatever you had originally made it)

    Select “My Courses”

    Select “Codeology Level 1 based on the 2017 NEC”

    Select “Codeology Book” picture on the right-hand side or the “Play button” to the left of the page

    Select “Lesson” on the left hand side or the “Play button” to the right of the page

    Navigate thru the course by playing the videos, Reviewing the Learning Objectives, if available Courseware Study Plan Enhancement Materials, and taking the Quiz. Upon completing the quiz, you will receive you grade. Then if needed review and retake. Of move onto the next quiz.

      

    Northwest State Community College (NSCC) Help

    As part of your course you will be taking quizzes as students through NSCC.

    • Navigate to Toledo Electrical JATC website>Continuing Education>Residential >V-Code Licensing Prep>Northwest State Community College (NSCC) quizzes

    This is a self-paced method of delivery. All Blended Learning (LMS) Codeology lessons must be completed by the participant with a minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course. Quizzes through Sakai would be required to be passed with a 70% or better and could be taken at any time.

    2. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - The National Electrical Code Process (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)
    3. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - The Arrangement of the NEC (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)
    4. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - The Structure of the NEC (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)
    5. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - The Language of the NEC (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)

    Sign-in to NSCC - Graded quiz through Sakai over chapter one textbook material. 70% would be required to pass this section. Remediation if needed would happen through Thursday tutoring on Zoom. Instructor can assign and review In-class participation 1-16 at any point and time though the course.

    1. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - Codeology Fundamentals (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)
    2. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - Article 90 Introduction (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)
    3. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - Applying the NEC's “GENERAL” Chapter (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)

    Sign-in to NSCC - Graded quiz through Sakai over chapter two textbook material. 70% would be required to pass this section. Remediation if needed would happen through Thursday tutoring on Zoom.

    1. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - Applying the NEC's “PLAN” Chapter (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)

    Sign-in to NSCC - Graded quiz through Sakai over chapter three textbook material. 70% would be required to pass this section. Remediation if needed would happen through Thursday tutoring on Zoom.

    1. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - Applying the NEC's “BUILD” Chapter (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)

    Sign-in to NSCC - Graded quiz through Sakai over chapter four textbook material. 70% would be required to pass this section. Remediation if needed would happen through Thursday tutoring on Zoom.

    1. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - Applying the NEC's “USE” Chapter (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)

    Sign-in to NSCC - Graded quiz through Sakai over chapter five textbook material. 70% would be required to pass this section. Remediation if needed would happen through Thursday tutoring on Zoom.

    1. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - Applying the NEC’s “SPECIAL” Chapters (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)

    Sign-in to NSCC - Graded quiz through Sakai over chapter six textbook material. 70% would be required to pass this section. Remediation if needed would happen through Thursday tutoring on Zoom.

    1. Sign-in to Blended Learning (LMS) - Applying Chapter 8, Chapter 9 Tables, and NEC Exam Preparation Skills (minimum grade requirement (60%) for this course)

    Sign-in to NSCC - Graded quiz through Sakai over chapters 7 and 8 textbook material. 70% would be required to pass this section. Remediation if needed would happen through Thursday tutoring on Zoom.

    3) Follow the instructions on that page to retrieve your username and/or reset your password.
